Meredith Van Ness
Meredith Van Ness, LCSW, is a licensed psychotherapist, coach, entrepreneur, and mom of three. For more than twenty years, she has worked with diverse populations in hospitals, schools, and community mental health organizations, including serving as Executive Director of a suicide prevention coalition. In these roles, she supported clients navigating everything from anxiety and depression to crisis intervention.
Today, Meredith is the founder of Balanced + Well Counseling & Coaching and Meredith Van Ness Therapy, where she specializes in translating complex therapeutic concepts into simple, usable tools that clients can immediately apply to daily life. Her work is grounded in evidence-based, behaviorally informed approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, behavioral activation, and acceptance and commitment therapy, with a strong focus on helping people change patterns that keep them stuck. She has also created popular online programs, including Empowered You, and delivers workshops and corporate trainings that make therapy-informed strategies practical and accessible beyond the therapy room.
Her grounded, compassionate approach has resonated widely, growing her online community to more than 235,000 Instagram followers (@meredith.vanness). She has been featured in outlets such as HuffPost and Bustle, and is frequently asked to review and endorse new titles by leading voices in emotional wellness, including Gabrielle Bernstein.
Meredith’s upcoming book, Name It, Break It, is the culmination of her work with clients and community. It introduces readers to the invisible patterns such as overthinking, self-doubt, and people-pleasing that quietly drain confidence and energy. With therapist-backed guidance, Meredith provides step-by-step tools to help readers break these habits and respond in ways that feel more sustainable and aligned.
She lives in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where she finds balance in family, friendship, and time outdoors.
